Abstract

This study explores the professional development of boatmen in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, with a focus on two key aspects: proper grooming and customer service. As frontliners in the tourism industry, boatmen play a crucial role in shaping visitors' experiences, particularly in the renowned Hundred Islands National Park. Beyond ensuring safe and efficient transportation, their professionalism significantly influences tourist satisfaction and the overall image of the destination. This research examines the current state of grooming, customer and quality service training among boatmen, identifies challenges they encounter, and explores potential strategies for improvement. By aligning their professional skills with the high standards of the tourism industry, this study aims to enhance service quality, boost visitor satisfaction, and contribute to the sustainable growth of Alaminos City's tourism sector.

Mark Harley V. Bristol, MBA, Pangasinan State University

Mark Harley V. Bristol is Master's in Business Administration Graduate and an Instructor I and contributes to the academic development of students in hospitality, tourism, and career readiness through instruction, internship coordination, and the establishment of strong industry partnerships that support meaningful experiential learning. Actively involved in extension projects that promote community development, skills training, and sustainable local initiatives and have published numerous research and won Best Extension Award and a finalist in Exemplary Performance for Extension. His academic and research interests include sustainable tourism development, hospitality management, work-integrated learning, and innovative local food product development that supports community growth.
Dr. Jocelyn S. De Vera

Jocelyn Sagun-De Vera is an Associate Professor V and has presented various research at local, national, and international conferences. She also published various research indexed in Scopus, Scimago, and other journals. Awarded as outstanding researcher in 2022 and rank 1 outstanding extensionist in 2021.Dr. De Vera recently presented research international and have won as best presenter last May 2024. Also, a book author in Education books and awardee in the field of Education.
